We flapped our wings really hard and were finally in London. Two long haul flights, lots of seat back entertainment and a few hours rest which we would not call sleep.
Our first day was spent riding classic London double decker buses and walking from Trafalger Square to Buckingham Palace and back again via Big Ben. When we couldn't walk any longer we headed back to our hostel where we settled in. We kept ourselves up until 6pm. The kids were falling asleep in their dinner plates. We tucked them into bed.
On the second day we went to the Natural History Museum, enjoying the Dinosaurs in particular, investigating Royal Albert Hall and spent a brief time in Hyde Park watching a brass band before the rain came down. More bus rides ensued.
Then it was off to Switzerland.
Our superlight luggage is working really well so far. We achieved our goal of getting away with hand luggage only. We are way under the maximum hand luggage weight. We each have one bag. Kids are about the size of domestic hand luggage. We even did 4 days before needing to do laundry. The Heathrow Express luggage racks have heavy luggage below and light luggage above. So we put our heavy luggage on the bottom shelf.
We appreciated travelling so light for our journey to Wengen from London. Our trip involved 8 trains and one plane all in the one day. Not having to handle luggage really helped. We were tired enough after such a long day.
Excitment mounted as we approached our desitnation on out final train ride. Not sure if it was looking down on the spectacular Lauterbrunen valley or the impending greeting of the grandparents that was the cause.
